Home Remodeling…

If you haven’t heard we bought a foreclosed home this past January. Since moving to KC we’ve lived in the same home and it was completely updated. Most of it was done when we purchased it and then we finished the rest. You know the basics: new windows, floors, trim, crown, paint, appliances and we put a 2 bedroom, living, partial kitchen, and full bath in the basement. We rented it out to Bible School Students from IHOP’s school of ministry known as FSM (Forerunner School of Ministry). It was a nice home and we were settled and ready to start a family.
When the girls died we coasted out the rest of the year by taking it easy and a few trips to see family and be alone. The week after Christmas we noticed a house 2 doors down foreclose. We knew that no one had been there for a while and the last couple of residents weren’t the best of keeping the house in order to say the least. Well, we checked into it and before you know we’re making an offer. To make the rest of the story short we owned the house in less than 3 weeks and sold ours in another 4 weeks!
You have to get an idea of this house we. It’s huge yes, but, it has been wrecked and abused for the last 15 years according to our new neighbor. Trust me, you could tell when we looked at it and still can if looking at the outside. When Amanda gives direction to our home now she says “turn right on College Avenue and look for the ugliest house on the block:)” It’s pretty bad.
However, we have it set to make it the best looking on the block…in due time of course:)

Some notes to remember when remodeling:
-Do it yourself and you can save tons of $
-If you have the rights tools you can do anything
-Although you save $ doing it yourself the jobs still take time, lots of time. I’m finding out here and there that this time is worth paying someone to do it:)
-Reading info on the web on ‘how to do’ can save you from messing up a new job your first, second and thirs times:)

Be blessed today.

Amanda is off to find out colors for our new home. We’ve now painted the living room 3 different colors!
