Be pure in heart and watch the spirit of your speech

In Matthew 5 Jesus calls every believer to grow and mature in the beatitudes or also known as blessings. These eight beatitudes are of the highest value to God. Jesus is teaching that this is the heart that attracts the blessing of our Father. Hence we should aggressively seek to lay hold of each of these beatitudes until they are the true fragrance of our lives.

It’s not enough to know about poverty of spirit, meekness or purity of heart. We must become poor in spirit, be meek people and purify our hearts and minds before God. It’s not enough to know about mercy, we are to be merciful people. As we mature in these beatitudes it will lead us to having great impact in the world (Matthew 5:13-14). Always remember that your lifestyle in and of itself will be the greatest witness that comes from you. Your words will avail very little if your lifestyle does not reflect what you speak of. read more…

The Lord is so Kind

What a weekend we had in Dallas doing a onething conference. 2,000 came to worship Jesus and hear the Word of the Lord. After the conference, on Sunday morning, I had a personal highlight in my life I want to share. God is so good. He’s for us and likes us.

Faithful when it’s small

I just returned from a weekend of ministering in Dallas/Ft. Worth (DFW) as we hosted a onething conference. We had a great conference with nearly 2,000 in attendance and many testimonies of people experiencing the Holy Spirit and committing to walk closer with Jesus. There were several healings and first-time salvations as well. One young many was delivered from drug addiction and born again during the morning session on Saturday! To hear more about the conference and see some behind the scenes videos check out the onething Facebook page or the onething YouTube page.

A highlight for me personally was that I got to speak at Jack Deere’s church Sunday morning. When I was born again 13 years ago there were two teachers that I immediately began to follow and listen to (cassette tapes back then) :) The two teachers were Mike Bickle and Jack Deere. So sitting there in the front row yesterday morning with Jack Deere a few seats down as I prepared to preach was so awesome and humbling. I cried several times during the worship time as I reflected on the Lord’s kindness and mercy in my life and bringing me along as He has so gently.    read more…

onething Dallas this weekend

The onething conference team will be in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area this Friday-Sunday hosting a young adult gathering as we call forth those to pledge their allegiance to Jesus and Jesus alone.  It is our heart to serve what God is doing from city to city and we’re pumped to be able to partner with a thriving network of ones giving themselves to prayer, worship and fasting in Dallas and the surrounding area.  We’re believing for God’s Word to go forth with power penetrating hearts and changing lives forever.  Many will be healed, some will be delivered and set free from ungodly desires and addictions and most will be inspired to give their lives wholly to the Lord.

Each of these weekends is unique as the Lord knows each and every person from city to city.  He is the One that is madly in love with the people.  I’m amazed every time to see and feel the Father’s heart moving upon so many people.  He is so kind and His heart is so big.  God loves people and He loves displaying this love again and again and again.  This is usually our first session of the conference; intimacy with God as our highest calling in life.  We will never receive a higher calling in life.     read more…

Don’t Quit = We Win

2010 May 25
by Wes

Today I’m so aware of my inability to please God by my efforts of doing good, being faithful or attaining righteousness. It’s obvious I’m broken and not able to be “perfect as my Father in heaven is perfect.”  What am I to do?  Shall I submit to the temptation to quit?  Am I to throw in the towel and just give in to my carnal nature and unholy desires altogether?  That’s the temptation that plagues us constantly; just quit, give in, don’t fight against sin and our fallen nature anymore.

This is everyone’s story.  No one is exempt.  You’re struggle may look different than the next person but know this; everyone struggles in some area, everyone.  The key to victory and godliness: don’t quit. read more…

Perfected Power

2010 May 20

As believers in Christ Jesus we have the invitation to walk and live in perfected power, that is, the power of the Holy Spirit flowing in us and through us.  What would it look like if our cities were full of congregations walking in perfect power?  I believe we would truly witness the prophecy that Jesus prophesied in Matthew 5 when He said we would be the “salt of the earth” and the “light of the world”.

In 2 Corinthians 12:9 Jesus tells Paul that His (Jesus’) strength, or power, is made perfect in weakness.  Jesus was not speaking of moral weakness.  He was speaking of the weakness of relying on God and God alone as our source of life and strength.  We can call this voluntary weakness.  It’s when we, as believers, voluntarily give ourselves to the disciplines of the spirit and therefore posture ourselves in weakness.  Jesus expounds on these spiritual disciplines in Matthew 6 (fasting, prayer, study of the Word, giving, serving, preferring others, speaking blessing etc.).   read more…

Greatest Sermon Ever

I just returned from Edmonton, Alberta Canada where I was speaking at a conference that the House of Prayer Edmonton (HOPE) hosted.  We had a wonderful conference and enjoyed the people so much. Justin Rizzo, one of the worship leaders here at the House of Prayer in KC went with me.  We worked hard and were blessed to witness the presence of the Lord’s Spirit among us.

I spoke two sessions on one of Jesus’ sermons, the Sermon on the Mount.  In my opinion this was His key-note message that He preached continually in every region He ministered in.  Some call this sermon the “Constitution of the Kingdom of God”.  Jesus defines true spiritual maturity and what godliness looks like in this message.  The sermon is beyond provoking and in my opinion the most powerful sermon ever.   read more…

Frequently Asked Questions About the End Times (Part 4)

2010 May 4
by Wes

If you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask.  Of course don’t take these answers as legit unless you can see it for yourself in your own Bible.  Most people don’t have an opinion on the end times or the return of Jesus because they don’t take the time to actually read what the Bible says.  Read, pray and ask the Holy Spirit for clarity.  He has zeal to give us answers concerning the future of the human race and the return of Jesus.

1. How do you know the horseman of the first seal judgment is the Antichrist and not Jesus (Rev 6)? The rider of the white horse has a crown (political prominence, Rev. 13:1-2, 7), a bow (military authority), and he is a successful conqueror. The nations have been enjoying a counterfeit worldwide peace at this time (1 Thes. 5:3). This will end after the opening of the first seal, the fall of Babylon and the abomination of desolation. The color white symbolizes righteousness because his reign initially appears righteous. He is the counterfeit to Jesus who rides a white horse with truth (Rev. 19:11). It would be out of place to say the rider of this white horse is Jesus when the other three horses have negative judgment events that involve sinful actions of men. Jesus is gloriously pictured in Revelation in splendor in three places (Rev. 1:12-18; 14:14-16; 19:11-16). There are significant differences between the white horse riders in Revelation 6:2 and Revelation 19:11-16.

The influence of Jesus

2010 April 29
by Wes

There’s no doubt that Jesus existed and lived in Israel a couple thousand years ago.  For someone to deny the existence of this Man would be as silly as denying the existence of Abraham Lincoln or any other great historical figure.  There’s simply too many historical facts and documentations that confirm the truth.  Jesus caused a stirring during His lifetime with His ministry impact and profound teaching and claims. Even non-Christian history books both confirm his existence and His following.  And then of course there’s the bible that tells the most accurate story of His life.  You should consider reading it and then testing the authenticity of it’s claims.

The ones that were close to Jesus and believed in Him were changed for the rest of their lifetime.  Many of them walked with Him for only a short period of time but still yet lived entirely different after they encountered Him as if a whole new set of values and view of life was given to them.  Here we are thousands of years later and His following increases by the thousands every single day.  Real people from all over the world are still encountering Him, and like the people in history when He was alive and with them physically, are massively influenced and changed.

onething NYC report

2010 April 22
by Wes

This past weekend a team from IHOP-KC hosted a onething regional conference in New York.  We were in Queens with around 1,500 lovers of Jesus.  Here is the recap from the weekend:

onething NYC was met with great expectation as many different ethnic groups and congregations met to encounter the Holy Spirit and cry out for revival.  Immediately out of the gate from the first session the Holy Spirit met us with a tangible presence and grace to enter into prayer and worship.  We spent most of the first night in intercession for college campuses, high schools, and various leaders within the city.

We held the event at a Korean church in Queens known as Promise Ministries.  They have daily prayer meetings at 5AM so it made it easy for the conference to enter into prayer.  We could sense that the road for corporate prayer had been laid from this particular congregation and that the Lord was calling the church of NYC to pray and fast.
